Seniors For Seniors
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

Seniors for Seniors is a consumer education program of the nonprofit Commission on Accreditation of Home Care in New Jersey.  It gives seniors a voice by providing intensive training that equips them with critical knowledge and advocacy skills so they can function as effective change agents on senior issues in their communities.  It provides trainees with the tools and methodologies to effectively articulate needs and solutions to elected officials, government representatives, the media, and the public at large.

The Seniors for Seniors Program’s instructors include prominent elected officials and experts in senior services.  They instruct participants on advocacy issues at the federal, state, county and municipality level and they provide up to date information about programs and issues that can and will affect seniors.   Just a few of the issues include:  economic insecurity, needs of caregivers, housing, elder abuse, and services for isolated older persons.

At the completion of training, each trainee selects a topic and develops a strategy for advocacy.  Graduates continue to meet regularly and receive support as they work to improve the living situations of our community’s elders.
